World of Warcraft, Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2 blocked in Iran.

You can still play from Iran by using a proxy!

Because the US has imposed trade restrictions and economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic, most American companies aren't allowed to do business in the country. By selling games and subscriptions to Iranian residents online, Blizzard had been doing business in Iran, and apparently that had to stop. That also means that Iranian players can't get refunds for pre-orders (like MoP, GW2) or for subscription time. The Iranian government also decided to ban most games from their country making the political dispute between the two countries stop gamers from being together, loving, chatting and slaughtering each other in thousands of fun ways.
This is from the Iranian government:

  1. Promotion of superstition and mythology.
  2. Promotion of violence due to too much violence.
  3. Abolishing the deformation in sin.
  4. Demonstration of inappropriate clothing and slutty outfits for female avatars.

This is Blizzard's side:
What we can tell you is that United States trade restrictions and economic sanction laws prohibit Blizzard from doing business with residents of certain nations, including Iran. Several of you have seen and cited the text in the Terms of Use which relates to these government-imposed sanctions. This week, Blizzard tightened up its procedures to ensure compliance with these laws, and players connecting from the affected nations are restricted from access to Blizzard games and services.
This also prevents us from providing any refunds, credits, transfers, or other service options to accounts in these countries. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and will happily lift these restrictions as soon as US law allows.

Guild Wars 2 and other games also seem to be affected by the ban.

GW2 - Login servers down.

Guild Wars 2 launched today and as expected the login servers are down. Don't yell at your firewall and don't throw your router out the window, it's because of the launch. Even if most of the people that wanted to play pre-ordered the game and got in 3 days ago, there was enough load to crash the servers today.

With all the beta week-ends and stress tests, the launch was as expected: The head start guys had servers crashing for 2 days(at least EU) and the guys that only started to play now are also unable to play due to servers being dead.

I didn't get to play too much, probably like 40 mins but for now the game isn't the second coming of Christ as most people described it because of how unresponsive characters are and the forever down EU servers.

Guild Wars 2 - Revolution, evolution or a new coat of paint?

As many of you know, Guild Wars 2 will launch tomorrow and people that pre-purchased it were able to play since the 25th. If you were insanely eager to play the game and you pre-purchased it, this post won't help you much but you are welcomed to post your opinion about the game.

I haven't gotten my hands on it simply because the beta week-ends didn't provide me with enough information for me to decided if it's worth my 60$. I dislike reviews so I decided to use forums to help me but I found out that there are a lot of mixed opinions ranging from "the best game ever" to "it isn't worth it".
I'll try to compile all the random posts and threads and let people decide for themselves if it's good or bad.

Three days into Guild Wars:
-ArenaNet is too trigger happy with bans - A single swear word or a name like "BruceLee" or "CuckNourish" will get you a 3day ban and a permanent ban after.
-There is no sub fee! - Pretty much that and it makes it awesome.
-The game is beautiful - Herp derp it's modern graphics on an MMO and the world is huge. You might want to lose yourself looking at it.
-There is no end game; the game is end game - there are no raids and the gear you get doesn't influence your character too much so you can wear what you like.
-Multiple ways to level - this sounds fun but if you choose only a single way to level you won't be able to do it. You have to choose things like PvP, crafting, exploring and some other things that aren't for everyone.
-Dynamic Events are easy - due to the fact that the game scales with the number of people around and they don't want it to be too hard, at the moment you can AFK and still get everything done.
-Dungeons are hard - Story mode is hard and Explorable is retardly hard. And they also are the entire PvE.
-PvP game - People feel that the game is too focused on the PvP side so that makes the PvE lackluster.
-There are 8 dungeons(32 paths) - This might seem like a low number but there are different paths to take in the dungeons so a single dungeon done 3 times could be different each time.
-Sidekicking - This makes you scale down to the level of the zone you are in. If you are level 80 and you go back to a level 5 zone, you will be scaled down to the point where you will fight the monsters as if you were level 5 (but a bit stronger).
-You can stand out - Even if the gear won't give you more power, the cosmetic factor is there and the hard to get loot will give you the "EPIC" feel again.
-You can't outgear dungeons - \o/ you won't miss your favourite dungeon because you are overgeared or too high leveled
-No resources - The game lacks resource management to the point that you only have to look out for your HP and cooldowns.
-Combat isn't too responsive - A lot of people say that the game isn't even close to the responsiveness they expected compared to other games.
-You lose the sense of leveling - "In GW2, I've completely ignored my level and just done the content, because the content... doesn't feel mindless or boring."
-No mounts - You get to teleport around the world but that won't ever be as awesome as running around on your tiger... or ARMORED WORM DRAGON WITH SPACE CANONS.
-No gear = Best gear EU! - If you start the game late, no one will care. The gear won't make a difference and only skill will say how good you are.
-Can't dodge in animations - "Combat control. I can go in with a main-hand sword and dagger, do combos and all, then I need to dodge but what happens? The toon is in the middle of a fancy combo and won't let me dodge away or even move at all."

Well, this kinda is all that I found and I could be bothered to copy-pasta. I have to say that in the meanwhile(while writing this) I did actually get Guild Wars 2. I also got a bit drunk so that might be why.
Hope this helps you decide if you want it or not.

Hello World!

So, I had this innovative idea about a blog. A blog about video games! I know, unheard of right?
But seriously now I know that there are probably a metric crapton of blogs on this subject and there's probably nothing new to add but I decided to give this a shot aswell.
Despite of what you might believe after my first actual post, this blog isn't dedicated to bashing one game or hyping another.

It's meant to bring my opinion on certain matters and bring arguments to back them up. It's dedicated to try and prove to the average folk that a decision was right or wrong. Also, this is not a forum and there are no rules. You can share your opinion on anything and in any way you find it fit.
